About MyImmigrantRights.ca

Free Immigration Law Information for Every Newcomer

Our Mission

MyImmigrantRights.ca provides free, plain-language legal information about Canadian immigration law. The platform covers work permits, study permits, permanent residency, refugee claims, family sponsorship, deportation, and more.

Immigrants, refugees, and newcomers deserve access to clear, accurate legal information. Many people cannot afford to consult with immigration lawyers or RCICs, and immigration procedures are complex. This platform exists to level that playing field by making foundational legal knowledge freely available to everyone.

How We Work

Research & Accuracy

All information is based on primary sources: the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, the Citizenship Act, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, IRCC operational manuals, and Immigration and Refugee Board decisions from CanLII. Content is verified against official government sources and updated regularly.

Plain Language

Legal documents are written in complex language that immigrants may not understand. Individuals may find our plain-language explanations helpful for understanding their rights without needing legal training.

Continuous Maintenance

Canadian immigration law changes frequently. Content is reviewed and updated regularly to reflect new regulations, policy changes, and court decisions.
